Some thoughts on the movie.
- REALLY AWESOME
- "Hurt" by Johnny Cash makes a lot more sense now
- Great music. The earlier days of Johnny-as-a-pill-poppin'-rockstar touring (Oh hey Elvis! Had to check IMDB to see if he was really in the movie lol), and duets with June made me smile (not the pill popping)
- Wish they didn't make Johnny's first wife look so bad though. I know the focus of the story is on the relationship between June and Johnny, but still. It's about perspectives yo
- Also, movie poster is awesome:
And now I will go on youtube and look up performances and music and stuff. lol maybe a Johnny Cash tribute post soon. WHO KNOWS, BUT MY PRIDE AND PREJUDICE DVD IS READY FOR PICKUP AT THE LIBRARY.
Edit: The scene with June Carter Cash singing at an music award by herself, with an autoharp reminded me of the Basia Bulat concert I went to. Except it was at a church, and the audience was much smaller, and Basia isn't as well known. I think a lot of the ~indie~ music we listen to now, like Mason Jennings, M. Ward, Basia Bulat, She & Him, kinda reminds me of that era. Except different audience, different stage, different kinds of popularity.
Just a thought.
